Four weeks, two live Cohort Support Meetings and a clear path through the program. Learn at your own pace, but not on your own.
Why a cohort-based program?
A new cohort begins on the first calendar day of each month. Each cohort is limited to a maximum of twelve paid participants.
The 36 didactic hours are designed to be completed within four weeks. Participants should plan approximately 8–10 hours of study time per week.
During the active four weeks, participants have access to structured learning modules, assessments, a protected cohort forum and two live Cohort Support Meetings.
A one-time extension of up to 14 days may be granted upon a justified request submitted before the course ends.

The 36-hour curriculum follows the BCIA Blueprint of Knowledge for Neurofeedback and is organised into ten competence areas.

Forum and cohort community
Each cohort receives access to a protected forum during the four active course weeks.

Subject-related questions can be collected for the live meetings. An immediate individual response to every forum post is not guaranteed.
Language and exam preparation
The program is available in German and English. Participants can use both language versions during their learning process.
Because the BCIA examination is conducted in English, the program also introduces relevant English terminology and includes preparation with English-language examination questions.
The second Cohort Support Meeting specifically addresses difficult terminology, common misunderstandings and preparation for the final assessment and BCIA examination questions.

BCIA Group Mentoring
Formal group mentoring is organised separately from the four-week didactic course.
Participants from different monthly cohorts may attend together. If a mentoring session does not reach the minimum of four participants, the booking is transferred to the next suitable session.
There is no entitlement to a specific mentoring date. Booked mentoring hours will not simply expire if IFEN cannot provide a suitable session; the validity may be extended or undelivered hours may be refunded proportionally.
Who can participate?
The program is intended for qualified professionals pursuing professional education in Neurofeedback and/or the BCIA certification pathway.
Participants are asked to provide information about their professional qualification, degree and, where applicable, professional license or registration.
Important: BCIA independently reviews each applicant's education, professional background and eligibility for certification. Participation in the IFEN course does not guarantee individual eligibility for full BCIA certification.
How this fits into BCIA certification
The IFEN program covers the 36-hour didactic education requirement.
Completion of the course does not automatically provide full BCIA certification. BCIA independently verifies each applicant's education, professional background and eligibility requirements.
BCIA fees, the examination, proctoring, any separately required neuroanatomy evidence and remaining mentoring requirements are not included unless explicitly stated.
Monthly cohort model
A new cohort begins on the first calendar day of each month. While one cohort is running, enrollment for the following cohort opens.
A place is reserved only after successful payment. Once twelve paid bookings have been received, enrollment for that cohort closes.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a permanently open self-paced course?
No. Participants work independently through the online learning modules, but they join a structured four-week monthly cohort.
How much time should I plan each week?
Approximately eight to ten hours per week.
Do the two live meetings count as BCIA mentoring?
No. Formal BCIA-eligible mentoring is organised separately.
What happens if I cannot complete the course in four weeks?
There is no automatic extension. A one-time 14-day extension may be granted following a justified request submitted before the course ends.
Do I receive BCIA certification after completing the program?
No. The program covers the 36-hour didactic component. Full BCIA certification includes additional requirements.
How does Guided Path mentoring work?
The Guided Path includes five BCIA-eligible group mentoring hours and ten structured case presentations. Groups may contain participants from different cohorts.
Can I study in German and English?
Yes. Participants receive access to both language versions.
Do I need Neurofeedback equipment?
No equipment is required for the didactic course.
Neurofeedback equipment
Participants who later become interested in a professional Neurofeedback system may request separate participant purchase conditions from Neurofeedback Partner GmbH.
Purchasing equipment is optional and is not part of the IFEN course. Consultation, contract and invoice are handled entirely separately.
