What is the IFEN?
The Institute for EEG-Neurofeedback (IFEN for short) was 2008 in Munich from Thomas F. Feiner and is one of Germany’s leading training institutes for Neurofeedback.

Vision and philosophy of the IFEN
Neurofeedback is a rapidly developing field in medicine. This method has been around for about 50 years, but it is still far too little known. Neurofeedback continue to offer unimagined opportunities and possibilities for our entire healthcare system.
These new incentives are urgently needed because our healthcare systems are facing an unprecedented challenge that affects the well-being of millions of people. However, this requires methods that relieve the burden on the system and prevent cost developments so that the system does not collapse or end up with a two-tier healthcare system.
The modern and scientifically based NeurofeedbackThe therapy method, as taught by the IFEN method, founded by Thomas Feiner, for over 12 years, has already helped thousands of patients suffering from life-threatening and debilitating illnesses. It helps people living in conditions where their suffering is a significant burden and a threat to their own health, even for their loved ones. We know the method works. Almost daily, we receive messages from enthusiastic therapists who have achieved outstanding therapeutic success with the IFEN method.
Thomas Feiner, Director of the Institute for EEG-Neurofeedback
When I started with the Neurofeedback I was one of the first Neurofeedbacktherapists in Germany, and the first in my hometown of Regensburg. After that, I moved to Munich, where there are also very few skilled Neurofeedbacktherapists. This fact puzzled me. Why is a method that is so effective so little known?
I therefore see it as my task Neurofeedback to promote, inform and support Neurofeedback Only a good and thorough education, with continuous training and further education, can ensure that Neurofeedback can be established permanently and benefit a broad public.
We want to continue pursuing this goal together with the people who accompany and support us in training and research. And we are proud of this. Thanks to our participation, hundreds of therapists have been able to earn a living with Neurofeedback whose good reputation has become an example for others. The Institute for EEG-Neurofeedback, of which I have been director for more than 12 years, is a basis on which we pursue this goal together with people all over the world.
Our mission is to promote standards in education, support scientists and advance our own innovations through the IFEN Neuroscience Lab. Ultimately, it is an effort to provide a happier life for those who have been dealt the worse hand.
The "IFEN Concept" Modern Neurofeedback
Every client is unique – every brain is different. We know how important individually tailored and holistic treatment for therapy. This is the only way to ensure rapid and lasting therapeutic success.
We offer numerous benefits for our trainees and therapists that are unique in Germany:
- Always up to date – Scientificity is our top priority. We base the content of our courses exclusively on current, well-founded research and studies as well as many years of knowledge. We also work closely with international universities.
- Always hands-on – Practice is very important at IFEN. The certificate is only awarded to those who can demonstrate sufficient experience through an internship and supervision with a personal mentor.
- Closeness to people – Our lecturers are not just technicians, but therapists and doctors who care about people’s well-being and health.
- Reliable support – Our experienced Neurofeedback-Experts available online and by phone.
- Inclusive community – No one is alone in the IFEN family. Our friendly community welcomes anyone who needs help and seeks advice.
- Large selection – Our wide range of training courses offers something for everyone. We are supported in the Workshopby international experts. Quantitative EEG is one of our most important areas of expertise.
About Thomas F. Feiner OT, QEEG-D, BCIA BCN
Founder & Director, Institute for EEG-Neurofeedback (IFEN) | Founder, IFEN Neuroscience Lab | QEEG Diplomate | Board Member, FNNR
Thomas Feiner has been working in the field of Neurofeedback and EEG-based brain diagnostics. He is the founder and director of the Institute for EEG-Neurofeedback (IFEN) in Munich and the IFEN Neuroscience Lab, where he developed innovative tools for measuring event-related potentials (ERP) and other instruments for neurocognitive diagnostics.
Since 2008, Thomas has more than 300 Workshops and webinars, bringing together clinicians, therapists and researchers in Neurofeedback, QEEG brain mapping, and ERP applications. His work includes the development of specialized EEG hardware such as the Free-Cap EEG system and software solutions such as the ERP Analyzer, which support both research and clinical practice.
As a QEEG diplomat and board member of the Foundation for Neurofeedback, Neuromodulation, and Research (FNNR), Thomas actively collaborates with international experts to advance advances in cognitive health, aging research, and performance optimization. He has researched heartbeat-evoked potentials and other neurophysiological markers, thus contributing to the understanding of brain-body interaction and its significance for diagnostics and Training contributed.
Driven by the goal of combining technological innovation with clinical expertise, Thomas provides professionals with the scientific foundation and practical skills to Neurofeedback and integrate brain mapping effectively and responsibly into their work.

About Maria Donaire
Psychologist specializing in neuromarketing and digital marketing
Event & Marketing Coordinator at IFEN
María is originally from Spain and studied psychology at the University of the Balearic Islands. Fascinated by neuroscience and human behavior, she specialized in neuromarketing and consumer psychology to better understand how emotions and neural processes influence decision-making.
In her master's thesis, she investigated the influence of emotional variables on the performance of employees and customers in a hotel chain, as well as ways to optimize the digital user experience.
She is currently working at the IFEN – Institute for EEG-Neurofeedback – as Event & Marketing Coordinator. There, she combines her psychological expertise with her knowledge of digital marketing to develop target group-specific communication strategies. Among other things, she is responsible for content development, IFEN's digital visibility, and reaching out to healthcare professionals – always with a scientifically sound yet human-centered approach.
