ISF Neurofeedback Course, taught by Mark L. Smith NY. CEs

ISF is the abbreviation of Infra Slow Fluctuation training showing a scientific term for the training with very low frequencies. Clinicians worldwide use this aproach with great success now.

Reports show it very helpful with severe cases of ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. Other clinician report good results with tinnitus, migraine, sleep disorders and chronic neurological/psychiatric disorders. The procedure is almost symptom-based, but also utilizes the QEEG to determine the training locations on the scalp. Many of our clinical users see ISF training crucial in the treatment of trauma, anxiety disorders and depression.

Applications of ISF

  • Autism, ADHD
  • Migraine, dizziness, tinnitus, seizures, mood swings, asthma, panic attacks, fibromyalgia
  • Parasomnia (Hypnagogy)
  • Developmental disorders or traumas
  • Autism, attachment disorders, personality disorders, addictions, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Day 2 & 3

9:00 am – 5:00 pm

1.) Hands on training. Please bring your computers and amplifiers. If you don’t own a DC coupled amplifier, please don’t let that stop you from attending. We will team you up with someone who does.

2.) Extensive practice in the use of the ISF software, training student clients, and setting the Optimum Frequency for training.

3.) The use of QEEG analysis for evaluating ISF candidates, treatment response, and beginning placements.

4.) Presentation of Pre/Post QEEGs and neuropsychological tests of ISF trained clients with a variety of presentations including affective disorders, autism, PTSD, ADHD, and insomnia.

Infra-slow Fluctuation Neurofeedback---A Novel Experience

Thomas Collura, PhD

I just completed 3 days learning and experiencing ISF (infra-slow fluctuation) neurofeedback, in a workshop presented by Mark Smith. Both the learning experience and the neurofeedback process were eye-opening, to say the least. The theory has to do with cortical activation, shifts in parasympathetic response, and achievement of a new mental state. What I found is that, by listening to a simple tone that told me when my "infra-slow" brainwaves shifted one way or another, I could be led into these states effortlessly…

From a mom whose son is receiving ISF Neurofeedback at SoundBrain Discovery Learning Associates:

"I am stunned after two weeks to see the changes in my son. Despite being 'asperger-ish' he is much more socially engaged and calmer. Now I have some hope for him to have a more normal life."

As a lifelong pianist, I was thrilled when 3 sessions of ISF cleared the debilitating arthritis in my left index finger!

The Addiction Recovery population with early life trauma and attachment issues, typically present with significant difficulties with emotion and affect regulation. I have found ISF to be the single best way to bring about stabilization of the CNS. In most cases it is fairly rapid, as seen in normalization of sleep patterns, decreased cravings and substitute compulsive behaviors. Most of my clients have complex PTSD, and I see decreased flashbacks, hyperarousal and dissociation. It is now my primary tool used for stabilization, allowing clients to do processing of traumatic material with such approaches as EMDR.

I own more different kinds of equipment than anybody I know except Merlyn Hurd: NeuroCare, pirHEG, BrainMaster, BioExplorer, LENS, NeuroField, Roshi, etc. Of all these systems, my favorite approach is Infra-Slow Fluctuation training because of the powerful impact it has on symptom reduction. It is the fastest and most certain way I have to get the results my clients hope to achieve.

“Thanks once again to Mark who helped many of us take the fear and anxiety out of ISF training, and gave us a wonderfully powerful tool. If you were not in Munich, you certainly missed out on an historic event. Mark demonstrated the newest software combining all the amazing capabilities of AVATAR with ISF... live z-scores, connectivity maps, head animation with ROI, and much more!”

This brain training (ISF) has put the wheels back on the car, now I can function again! Chronic Lyme client who has been on leave from her Medical Osteopath practice due to unremitting fatigue and brain fog.

Jackie de Vries, MS, www.crossroadscenterofnj.com

"The discovery of neurofeedback and QEEG was a revelation for me, because as a clinician, I could intervene at the source of the problem, the brain. Progress in technology, especially z-scores, enhanced neurofeedback effectiveness. However, the introduction to Mark Smith's ISF has become the most effective clinical tool to reduce the symptomatology and restore clients to a more stable and healthier level of functioning."
