Especially in the field of photomedicine, there have been numerous important and exciting discoveries for several years. One of the most fascinating topics is Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT), also known as photobiomodulation.

Photobiomodulation (ancient Greek photos = light, Greek bios = life, Latin modulatio = measure) builds on the effect of low-energy light on the cell structures in our body. Photobiomodulation therefore does not work with sharp, high-energy beams (the lasers that are also used in surgery, for example), but mainly with pulsed LED light.

The important link between the "gentle radiation" and the organism is formed by the mitochondria, organelles, which are found thousands of times in human cells and form complex metabolic networks there. The condition of mitochondria has a major impact on the cell itself. It also forms a critical link in the respiratory chain. Stimulated by the targeted near infrared light of the LEDs, mitochondria are stimulated to increased performance. This speeds up wound healing processes, relieves rheumatism as well as acute and chronic pain, and regenerates nerve cells. Even an inhibition of the Alzheimer's characteristic beta-amyloid deposits in the nerve cells of the brain could be detected.

The future of medicine is no longer the scalpel - that's obvious. Patients with severe conditions such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's are therefore hoping for noninvasive methods such as photobiomodulation.

Photobiomodulation is at the forefront of current medical discoveries and attracts more attention from researchers and physicians year after year.
